The Niewiadów-PGM S.A. Group, a company listed on the NewConnect market, has entered into an agreement with the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) to develop a fully domestic production technology for 155 mm ammunition, marking a breakthrough in building Poland’s capabilities in the field of large-caliber ammunition.
Through its collaboration with WITU, the Group will be able to develop and test the technology and prepare it for production implementation in accordance with the requirements of the Joint Ballistics Memorandum of Understanding (JBMoU), which will significantly increase the self-sufficiency of the Polish Armed Forces and strengthen Poland’s position in the European supply chain.
The signed agreement on joint scientific and technical achievement covers the development of technology for manufacturing a 155 mm round with a High Explosive (HE) projectile and a version of it equipped with a gas generator. The work will be carried out using domestic research, development, and industrial capabilities, and the parties anticipate the possibility of engaging domestic and foreign partners, with the party introducing the partner retaining responsibility. The results of the work will be jointly owned by the parties on a 50-50% basis.
The signing of this agreement marks a milestone in the development of domestic capabilities in the field of large-caliber artillery ammunition. For the first time in Poland, the development, testing, and implementation of the full production technology for the 155 mm round are being carried out by domestic entities, without the need to rely on licenses from outside the European Union. Thanks to the cooperation with WITU, the Group will in the future gain the capability to independently produce ammunition compliant with JBMoU requirements and adapted to the Krab and K9 systems, with the flexibility to select components of European origin. This tangibly increases the supply autonomy of the Polish Armed Forces and strengthens the resilience of the supply chain. At the same time, we are laying the foundation for the development of a European supply chain aligned with the priorities of the EU’s Security Action for Europe and European Defense Fund programs. The agreement also paves the way for constructive dialogue with the Ministry of National Defense regarding future orders and development programs. “We are ready to turn this project into another step toward Poland’s security and technological sovereignty,” says Grzegorz Niedzielski, President of the Management Board of the Niewiadów-PGM S.A. Group.
The agreement also includes provisions regarding confidentiality and the protection of know-how, as well as safeguards against the unauthorized disclosure of documentation or the unauthorized use of the developed solutions.
